Valving

  • Valving refers to the internal shims and passages that regulate fluid flow inside your shock. Off‑the‑shelf shocks use generic valving, but we custom tune the compression and rebound stacks for your vehicle’s weight, suspension geometry and driving style. Proper valving transforms a harsh ride into a plush one on and off‑road. We tune 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 bodies, remote reservoir and bypass shocks for Ford Raptor, Toyota Tacoma, Jeep Gladiator, UTVs and more.

  • If your suspension feels too stiff or too soft, custom valving may be the solution. Even two identical vehicles can behave differently due to driver preference, added weight or modifications. We assess your shocks and recommend whether revalving will improve control, comfort and safety. Custom valving is especially beneficial for heavier vehicles like the Ford Raptor and for off‑road builds such as Toyota Tacoma, Jeep Gladiator and UTVs.

Test & Tune

  • Test & Tune involves a full day of testing and suspension tuning scheduled around a shake down run for a race car or prerunner.

  • Due to the speeds and conditions the vehicle will be pushed to, to find the maximum possible performance a few safety items are required.

    -Petuned and Rebuilt Shocks

    -On Board Fire Extinguishers

    -Hard Mounted Seats with Harnesses.

  • We test where you drive the most there’s no point in tuning a car for Mexico if its only going to be on fire roads in big bear.

• Fine-tune compression & rebound valving to match your vehicle’s weight, suspension geometry and terrain—get a plush ride and increased control.

• Understand the differences between 2.0", 2.5" and 3.0" shocks: larger pistons and more fluid volume mean smoother damping and better cooling for heavier builds like the Ford Raptor and overland Tacomas.

• Remote-reservoir and piggyback designs increase oil capacity and cooling for longer runs; bypass shocks provide independent tuning through multiple zones for racing or desert trucks.

Why Rebuild & Service Your Off-Road Shocks

• Extend shock life and prevent costly wear by replacing seals and fluid regularly

• Restore ride quality and handling—no more bottoming out or harsh ride

• Customize damping and spring rates to your vehicle’s weight, accessories and driving style (Ford Raptor, Toyota Tacoma, Jeep Gladiator, UTVs, and more)

• Upgrade to larger shock bodies (2.5", 3.0") or add remote reservoirs for more oil volume and cooling

• Follow recommended service intervals: Fox 2.0 IFP shocks around 50k street miles or 10k off-road; King coilovers every 10k‑30k street miles or 1k‑5k racing miles; rebuild schedules vary by brand and terrain

About Us

TLDR We really like trucks.

Founded in 2021, Roth Shock Services began as a side project to fund Brandon's Bronco prerunner build (4 years later and its still not done what a surprise). What started with side work for friends quickly snowballed into a thriving business, eventually leading Brandon to leave his aerospace job.

With a lifelong passion for off-road adventures and fabrication, Brandon has worked on a wide range of projects, including prerunners, race trucks, side-by-sides, and rock crawlers. His experience also includes working with trophy truck teams, where he has contributed to building vehicles that have finished on the podium.

Brandon’s commitment to quality craftsmanship and his drive to push boundaries have made Roth Shock Services a name in the off-road community. But his ambitions don’t stop there. He is continually looking to expand into other motorsport fields such as rally, drift, and drag racing, aiming to bring the same level of expertise and dedication to every project he undertakes.

At Roth Shock Services, every project is a testament to Brandon’s dedication to excellence, customer satisfaction, and his unwavering love for all things motorsport.

Spring Changes

Red pickup truck with the front wheel removed, showing the suspension and brake components.
  • A spring change is when we respring your vehicle to properly hold the weight of the vehicle. This is the first thing you need to dial in your car. No amount of valving or Bypass tubes can fix bad springs.

Installs/Prep

  • Here at RSS we offer same day rebuild and install services for most vehicles and shock packages for about 1/2 the price of most shops. Currently Appointment only.

  • We’ve been Prepping Race and play cars for the desert for almost 10 years. We have experience with everything from Trophy trucks, Baja Bugs, Sand Rails, Prerunners, Jeeps, and SXS’s. Our shock rebuilds are more than just putting in seals and oil. The whole goal of the company is to build better trucks.
